Neighborhood Bike Works • Volunteer Mechanic

Volunteering weekly at Bike Church to teach people from all backgrounds how to work on their own bicycles. Passionate about supporting women and transgender hours, working with people who may feel marginalized in other bicycle industry spaces. 

Fluxspace Innovations LLC • Makerspace Education Specialist
Jan 2022 – May 2024 • Norristown, PA
Worked as a founding member of a small educational technology startup. Managed installations and repairs of hands-on STEM equipment including hydroponic farms, laser cutters, 3D printers, and CNCs. Ran the in-house makerspace and demonstration lab, managed a team of high school and college interns, and trained local educators on implementing makerspaces K-12 classrooms. Taught daily design thinking and innovation field trips to elementary and middle school student groups. Developed several project-based curriculums and lesson plans for laser cutting, hydroponics, 3D printing, and robotics. Provided support on database management for customer relations and tracked deliverables for large scale events and conferences. 

The Wharton School • Makerspace Technician, Retail Lab Designer, Teaching Assistant

Worked to support the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem for students and alumni at the University of Pennsylvania. Trained students individually and within the classroom environment on design softwares and fabrication tools for academic and personal projects in the Studios at Tangen Hall. Maintained safety and cleanliness of the digital fabrication and woodshop areas. Designed and fabricated teaching tools and installations for exhibit spaces for the university. Worked as a teaching assistant for several classes focused on giving business students the hands-on skills needed to design and build prototypes.

Design Thinking Toolkit • Weitzman School of Design PennPraxis Fellow

Worked with Professor Sarah Rottenberg to develop the content and aesthetics of a reference book, currently used by students studying design thinking. The toolkit includes exercises to teach human-centered design, concept ideation, digital wireframing, physical pretotyping, and prototype testing; as well as examples and artifacts from industry examples and student work.

Executive Program in Social Design Innovation • Assistant Program Coordinator

Supported the launch of the start-up educational program in Social Innovation Design, managing program communications, preparing materials for online courses, and coordinating in-person events and activities for weekend summits.

Swarthmore MakerSpace • Student Technician and Designer
Aug 2018 – May 2019 • Swarthmore, PA
Freelanced as a designer and fabricator on projects for professors and departments on campus using digital and woodshop tools in the makerspace. Trained students to use digital, mechanical, and manual fabrication tools for class projects and personal use. Maintained safety and cleanliness of the shop area.

Hugo and Hoby • Design Intern

Worked in the development of multiple projects designing furniture, delivering pieces, and attending sales meetings. Created CAD models and rendered images for a line of furniture being built for new student housing at Yale University and Swarthmore College.

Documented several campus events each week for the Athletics and Communications Departments to be used on social media, the school website, and in other publications. Also worked as photography editor for the college paper: managed staff, curated, and edited photos each week for print and web publications.

EDUCATION

University of Pennsylvania • Class of 2021
Masters of Science in Integrated Product Design (M:IPD)
Graduate thesis focused on the reuse of spent coffee grounds and HDPE (including plastic milk jugs) into a composite plastic that retained the structural integrity of HDPE and financially motivated coffee shops to integrate waste reduction into their business. Took courses in mechatronics, materials science, ergonomics, communication through visual design, and entrepreneurship. 
Served as president of the IPD Student Government Association and on the Penn Engineering Masters Students Advisory Board.

Swarthmore College • Class of 2019
Double Major in Engineering and Fine Arts (BS & BA)
Undergraduate thesis focused on the design of an ADA boardwalk path through the Crum Woods on Swarthmore’s campus, to increase access for all students to environmental research stations and community spaces.
